I am the captive and I'm bound to the life I lived.
I’ve only walked one path, not knowing I was so close to the edge.
I couldn't see the way out. The fog was too thick.
I came here thinking that this was it, but it was just another lie I would tell myself.

I told myself:
“You will find your way out. Tomorrow is a new day.”
But I lost the path I walked on. I failed to hear you say:
"Don’t make this mistake. Can you not see? The eye is not satisfied, nor the ear with hearing."

Pride filled my lungs. The path had ended and all I found was myself standing there.
Now I see that it was me. It was me.
The enemy prowls around like a roaring lion (like a lion),
watching and waiting to devour his prey.

Where have I come to? I was deceived for far too long.
But is it too late? It can't be too late.

I am the captive.

I was too blind to find the water that would quench my thirst.
It brought me closer to the person that I feared.
Too weak to tend to my wounds.
Too deaf to hear your whisper amongst the storm.

I had eyes but failed to see, and ears but failed to hear.
But now I finally see. The fog has cleared.
